“I’m back on track.”

I hear these words often when talking to people about their health and fitness.

Everyone seems to be in a perpetual state of being “on track,” “falling off track” or “getting back on track.”

The reality is there is no “on track”, “off track” or somewhere in between.

That’s because health, fitness and wellness are not an all-or-nothing proposition.

If you want to be more consistent with your fitness and healthier eating, I’d encourage you to stop looking at them as something you start when things are going great and you feel motivated...and something you stop when things are tough and you feel lousy.

Being on the wagon or falling off the wagon is just a story you’ve told yourself.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

You’ll be healthier and happier if you focus on winning one day at a time, celebrating your little victories, and not beating yourself up over your missteps.

Just show up every day.

You’ll have really good weeks where you meal plan, eat well and move often.

You’ll have average weeks and you’ll have weeks when you indulge in less supportive foods or miss a couple of workouts in a row. This doesn’t mean you’re “off track.”

It means you’re human.
