Here we are, once again in the middle of a COVID surge, so it seems like a good time to talk about natural ways to strengthen your body's immune system.
Let's start with the Pillars of Healthy Living...
1. Sleep - 7+ hours a night.
2. Good Nutrition - As few as 1 in 10 adults eat a diet that meets fruit and vegetable recommendations. I’m talking about minimal recommendations of 1-2 cups of fruit and 2-3 cups of vegetables per day.
3. Exercise and lots of daily movement.
4. Relaxation - healthy down time and stress management.
5. Water.
Now the Support Beams...
- Spend time in nature (I think this can easily be in the Pillar category)
- Social interaction.
- Don't smoke.
- Drink alcohol in moderation.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
Lastly...
- Supplements.
How are your pillars?
Would it be hard to drink an extra glass of water, eat an extra serving of vegetables or do a mood boosting, stress relieving bout of exercise?
How are your support beams?
Are you supplementing with vitamin D3, fish oil and a good quality multivitamin as you try to improve your pillars and lifestyle?
You will not "out-supplement" a poor lifestyle, but they can help fill in the gaps.
I'm a big fan of VIBE, a liquid multivitamin by Eniva Health. I like the fact that it's a liquid not a pill, delivers a heavy dose of mineral, vitamins and antioxidants and provides me a boost of energy from it's green tea extract.
Stay safe by taking control of your lifestyle. A little improvement goes a long way.
Keep moving,
