What’s Needed for a Transformation
Transform. It’s an extremely powerful word. People come to us wanting to transform their fitness and health. Maybe it’s the power behind the word transform that skews their view of what’s required to succeed.
“I need to stop eating carbs,” they say.
Or, “I need to workout six days a week.”
Or, “No more pizza.”
These things can help, but they aren’t required.
You know what is required?
Our bodies are complex, and very good at keeping score of everything we do and don’t do when it comes to having the body and health we want. The score can be expressed in many ways -weight, body fat, cardiovascular health, body chemistry, emotional health, relationships…the list goes on. An action like never eating pizza again is just part of the total score. As an isolated action, never eating pizza again doesn’t do much.
In order to change, you MUST get CLEAR on where you are today and where you want to go.
Where you are today starts with looking in the mirror and confronting habits and behaviors that have had a negative or positive impact on your fitness and health. Where you are today may include a physical with blood work to determine whether your body is on the path to a long, healthy, happy life, or whether something needs to change. It could also include having a fitness professional take you through a basic movement assessment that tests balance, stability and basic strength. They can also record weight, measurements and body fat.
So if you’re looking to transform your body and health for the rest of 2021 and beyond, the very first thing you need is CLARITY.
