Things I'd Like to Stop Hearing
I’m a fitness coach over 40 who trains and helps people over 40 with their fitness and health. I have a gym full of women and men (many who hate gyms and would rather be doing other things besides working out) showing up consistently.
So, I don’t want to hear how…
“Weight gain is inevitable because of my age and metabolism.”
Your metabolism didn’t just throw in the towel. Years of sedentary lifestyle, stress, hormonal changes, alcohol consumption and a busy life filled with convenient choices may have changed it and led to weight gain, but it’s not inevitable.
You don’t have to accept feeling sluggish and bloated. You can lose weight, feel strong and actually enjoy the process. You're not broken.
“It’s too late to build muscle.”
Science says you can build muscle and strength at any age. And since 99% of us aren’t looking to enter the world of body building and fitness competitions, you’ll be able to build enough to live a high functioning life. You just need the right plan.
“I need more cardio, willpower, and less carbs.”
If you really want to stop being frustrated and exhausted, unlearn what you have learned. You dropped 25lbs look great, but still want to lose another 5lbs because you are obsessed with a specific number on the scale.
We’ve all been misled by diet culture, High-Intensity everything and advice to sell you something.
Willpower is not the answer.
It’s about learning how to eat better, lift weights, do the appropriate amount of cardio/steps, and recover.
