Back to School
Next week parents will be jumping for joy and kids will be cranky and irritable as they head back to school here in central Florida. A week of chaos will ensue, but it also means back to more structure.
Even if you don’t have kids, going back to school seems to trigger a “mental” new year feeling. Summer is winding down…schedules change and vacations have passed, which makes it a perfect time to refocus.
So, if you lost a bit of focus over the summer, here are a few ideas to get back in a routine that supports your fitness and health goals:
1. Lock in your morning rituals
The morning sets the tone for the day. Maybe yours is full of chaos getting kids fed and off to school while getting yourself ready for work. A little calm before the storm is beneficial. Get up 20-30 minutes early and move a little, drink water and set your intention.
2. Plan your week on Sundays
Take15 minutes and map out your big commitments, workouts, and a rough meal plan. This will help staying ahead of your week instead of playing catch up.
3. Use your calendar to your advantage
Treat your workouts like school drop off: NON-NEGOTIABLE. Put them on the calendar and protect that time. If it’s important, you’ll make an appointment for it.
4. Involve the family
Even if your kids aren’t lifting weights, they can join in for family walks, weekend hikes, or helping with meal prep. When they see you prioritize your health, they learn to value it too.
